A Rouchovany baptismal entry records a child Thomas, born 8 September and baptized 9 September 1865 at house 57. A later hand added “v Americe” (“in America”).
The 1900 census records Thomas Dobes, 73, and his wife Josephine, 62, in Weston. A 1915 probate petition supports identifying her as a later wife who was not the mother of all Thomas's heirs.
The 1910 census records Tomas Dobish, 45, and his wife Francis, 43, on a farm in Center precinct, Butler County. This household is the high-confidence match to Thomas and Mrs. Dobesh in the 1912 Brainard report.

A newspaper reported that lightning struck Thomas Dobesh's house on the night of 14 July 1912. Mrs. Dobesh had set down a lantern moments before; its globe shattered, and she narrowly escaped harm.

The Weston column reported that “Thos. Dobes,” aged 85, died on 14 April 1913 after a lingering illness. It announced a funeral on 17 April with intended interment in Plasi Cemetery.

The Blue Valley Blade reported Thomas Dobesh's death on 9 April 1934 and his 13 April funeral and burial at St. Wenceslaus in Bee. The obituary also contains claims that conflict with earlier records.
