Dobesh Society

Privacy

The public archive concerns eligible records. Living people remain private.

This release has no registry, account, submitting form, upload, payment, analytics tag, advertising tag, or public living-person directory. Its homepage email controls are an inactive preview.

What the website processes

The static site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process ordinary delivery, security, and diagnostic logs needed to serve and protect the site. The Society does not run client-side analytics, set its own cookies, or load third-party fonts, scripts, pixels, or media.

Local interface controls

The site has two small executable first-party files: one filters the six already-delivered record cards in your browser, and one lets the homepage Menu pause or resume the visual history ticker. Neither file makes a network request, stores data, uses cookies or local storage, or changes the complete no-script reading path.

Inactive email-signup preview

The homepage shows disabled email and signup controls to preview the planned free account experience. They are not inside a form, accept no entry, have no field name or endpoint, and cannot transmit or store an address. The site also keeps connect-src 'none' and form-action 'none' in its Content Security Policy.

Email

Email to hello@dobesh.org uses Cloudflare Email Routing and forwards to a mailbox on a founder-owned Anne & Joachim Heritage Press domain. The final legal controller, processor, and mailbox arrangement has not yet been formalized, so this notice does not present that role allocation as complete.

Write only what you choose to disclose. An ordinary message does not enroll you, subscribe you, create a public profile, or authorize publication. Do not send passwords, payment data, identity documents, or sensitive records through ordinary email.

Public genealogy boundary

Living people remain private. Death-unknown people are private by default, with one narrow historical exception: cited evidence must establish a latest possible birth at least 120 years before the content-status date under the conservative calculation published on the Methods page. That rule is only a publication presumption—not proof of death, identity, or relationship. Every item still requires an individual privacy, rights, and data-minimization decision. Family relationship to a deceased person does not make a living relative public.

Access, correction, and deletion

If you previously supplied information, you may ask what is held, request correction, or ask for deletion by writing to hello@dobesh.org. The project will verify enough context to avoid changing the wrong record and will explain any legal or archival limit that applies.

Before any intake opens

A later account or contribution system must identify its controller and processors; define exact fields and purposes; keep optional updates separate and unticked; publish retention, export, deletion, and session-revocation rules; validate abuse controls server-side; secure attachments; and receive a separate public-release approval before the preview is activated.
